I will be a morning/get ready person for someone with cerebral palsy this upcoming fall. I’m a bit nervous, because it’s the first job I’ve had that’s so one on one and I don’t have any experience with people with CP. I’ve read up on it, but I’m not sure what to expect.

I know CP comes with varying degrees of challenges, but I’d like to be prepared so that I’m not caught off guard and everything goes smoothly.

Does anyone havae words of advice or can share their experiences?

What is particularly challenging and how do you handle it?

A couple of days ago, i found my self talking to one of my teachers who’s son had cerebral palsy. She said that her son had a twin with the same condition, and he passed away last year. I think she said he was three. Can any one tell me ANYTHING about this, so i can understand it a little more?

I have left hemiplegia cerebral palsy, very mild. Occasionally though, I have these instances where my whole body will shake for a few seconds and it’ll feel as if my brain is being pulled downward. Afterward, I feel just slightly distant and spacey. Is this part of Cerebral Palsy? If so, what is it? I would really like some help on finding out what it is. Thanks in advance!

My 2 year old daughter has cerebral palsy which affects her legs and arms ,she is happy and playfulas any other 2 year old but she is restricted physically as she cannot sit unaided , she does attend a group once a week but i think she needs to concentrate on physical therapy i have found programs such as brainwave in the south but does anyone no of anything similar in the northwest merseyside cheshire area?

I space out a LOT and I do random little things with my hands while I’m spaced out, (Like grabbing the hem of my shirt, flicking my nails, stuff like that) and I also have these small moments where my body shudders for no reason. I had it for a long time, and whenever I ask my family about it, they all say that everybody does that. But it happens to me a lot more than it happens to other people. Is this from the cerebral palsy or am I just weird?

It’s a mild case of cerebral palsy. Only thing the matter is that my right hand is limp, i cant grab anything with it. Hence I need to grab a steering wheel when i drive. I have heard about steering control knobs or balls. What else is out there that could help me? I suppose this would make me be able to get a handicap sticker on my license plate too.
